Introduction To Theater

This class is an introductory course for students to experience a range of theater activities, including a variety of performance opportunities as well as examining theater in society. We engage in theater exercises, as well as improvisation and scene work. All performance projects are done within the class period. This is a great class for building confidence in yourself and your abilities.

Intermediate Theater

Intermediate Theater is a course for students to experience a range of theater activities with an emphasis on performance skills. This is a class that allows you to stretch your skills, collaborate with others and produce a performance that is shared with the public.

Advanced Theater

Advanced Theater is a course for studetns who want to strengthen their performance skills, examine theater as an art form and work collaboratively with others. In the fall we prepare for the Oregon Thespian Regional Acting Competition while in spring we focus on student-directed One Acts.

Theater Leadership

Theater Leadership is a classroom opportunity to engage in assisting in the growth of fellow students and to be part of the many details that go into running a working theatre.

Stagecraft

Stagecraft is a technical theater course for students to experience a range of technical theater activities. This course involves design work, stage makeup, set construction, and scenic painting. This is not a class recommended for studentss with dust or latex allergies due to the materials used in our content.

Elements of Dance

Elements of Dance is a course for studentss to experience a range of dance styles emphasizing the dance of other cultures and eras, performance and studetn-driven work. Dance styles include: Maori sticks and poi balls, step dancing, tap, musical theater dance.

Cromwell

Blair Cromwell is the theatre teacher at Dallas High School with certifications in Theatre, French and English. She has taught at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for over 20 years, Willamette University, Western Oregon University, and Children's Educational Theatre, to name a few. She has worked to develop statewide assessments through the Oregon University System and the Oregon Department of Education. Blair is a recipient of the Oregon Theatre Arts Association Rex Rabold Memorial Award for professional achievement, the Oregon Theatre Arts Association Melba Day Sparks Henning Award for the Oregon Hall of Fame for Extraordinary Achievement and Service, the Dallas Chamber of Commerce award for Excellence in the Arts, Dallas Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year, and was twice the recipient of the Dallas School District Distinguished Educator Award.
